MANSEHRA, Nov 2: A team of Federal Investigation Agency in a raid on travel agency allegedly involved in human smuggling has arrested its owner and recovered fake passports and other documents.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, FIA circle in-charge Malik Ijaz said that a team of FIA had sealed Benazir Travel Agency in Oghi after they recovered fake passports, computerised national identity cards and other documents from there. He said that the raiding party also arrested owner of the travel agency, Mohammad Hanif.
Mr Ijaz said that the raid was conducted following complaints by aggrieved parties that Hanif was involved in human smuggling. He said that investigation had been launched into the matter.
The FIA official claimed that Hanif used to deceive people by telling them that he had good links in one of the ruling parties.
It was also learnt that a large number of fake forms of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) were also confiscated during the raid.
EXPLOSIVES RECOVERED: Mansehra police on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of explosive material and detonators, which were being transported to Gilgit.
According to police, a heavy contingent of police, headed by ASP headquarters Mohammad Ali Zia, intercepted a convoy of four vehicles near Ghazikot Township and recovered 3,000kg of explosive material, over 3,000 detonators and six repeater guns.
Six people, including Irfan, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Zahoor, Fakhar Tauqir, Ishtiaq and Maraz Khan were also arrested. Police have also impounded a truck and three pickup vehicles that were transporting the contrabands to Gilgit from Haripur.
District police officer Sohail Khalid told reporters that investigation had been launched after seizure of the explosive material.
OUTLAW KILLED: A notorious outlaw wanted in a number of crime cases by police stations in Mansehra and Battagram was killed on Tuesday in Sathan Gali area by his opponent, it was learnt.
According to police, Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Munir opened indiscriminate firing on Mian Khan during a jirga and he died on the spot.
Mian Khan had allegedly killed the brother of Mohammad Ali in 1994 and he was wanted by police.
Batal police have registered the FIR and launched investigation.
