LARKANA, July 2 Sardar Ahmed Chandio, the elder son of late Nawab Shabbir Ahmed Chandio, was installed as the chief of Chandio tribe in a gathering in Qambar on Thursday.

Hundreds of people and heads of different tribes -- including Balochistan Governor Zulfikar Ali Magsi, Sindh Minister of Local Government Agha Siraj Ahmed Durrani and MPA Munawwar Abbasi -- attended the ceremony. Nawabzada Mushtaq Ahmed Chandio and Nawabzada Saeed Ahmed Chandio, the brothers of Shabbir Chandio, did not attend the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion Sardar Ahmed said that a huge responsibility had been put on his shoulders which he would try to fulfil.

He thanked participants of the event and announced that he would undertake an extensive tour of Sindh and meet representatives of warring factions of Chandio tribe to settle disputes among them.

Born on Aril 19, 1965, Sardar Ahmed has become the 36th Nawab of the Chandio tribe after the death of his father on last Sunday.
