Search utility disappeared
QI read the solution about 'search utility disappearance' in this section, and followed as you advised, because I am also facing such problem. Hence, when I gave command regetid to run, an error came that “registry editing has been disabled by your administrator”. And while opening Task Manager, I received message saying “it has been disabled by your system administrator”. However, I am the computer administrator. Also, the 'Folder option' in Control Panel has disappeared. How can I solve this problem?

AIt seems like your computer has been infected with a virus. First visit HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E} mid//00000768/!x-usc http//www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-050614-0532-99" http//www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-050614-0532-99 and run the tool at HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E}mid//00000768/!x-uschttp//securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/UnHookExec.inf" http//securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/UnHookExec.inf.
After this, the first thing you have to do is recover control over your system. For this you will need two software; one is WinTasks from  HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E}mid //00000768/!x-uschttp//www.soft32. com/dowload_14872.html" http//www.soft32.com/download_14872. html. This is a very powerful equivalent of the task manager and will help you kill the viruses that take control of the processes. After this, you will need to install COMODO (HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9 DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E} mid //00000768/!x-usc http//www.comodo.com/" www.comodo. com) and run a complete system scan. This programme is also a firewall which will help you block viruses from being executed.
AVG is good but see if you want to try NOD32 with a 30-day trial from  HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E}mid //00000768/!x-usc http//www.eset.com/" www.eset. com/. Run a full system scan. We also recommend PrevX CSI to detect malware on the system. Download it from  HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E}mid //00000768/!x-uschttp//www.prevx. com/" www.prevx. com and scan. Once the results are listed, detect files which are causing problems and boot into Safe Mode to delete them.

After this also install AD-Aware or SpyBot from  HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E}mid/ /00000768/!x-uschttp//www.download.com/" www.download.com and run a complete scan. This will hopefully fully clean your system. Do not forget to turn off system restore before scanning systems, to ensure that the viruses are truly deleted. To enable Task Manager, try any of these methodsOption 1 Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below REG add HKCU SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem /v DisableTask Mgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f Option 2 Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) and navigate to HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies System In the right-pane, double-click DisableTask Mgr and set its data to 0. You can also try to merge a. REG file. You can copy one from HYPERLINK "mhtml{36F9 DFCE-D374-4ECA-B612-B8FD78E35C5E} mid// 00000776/!x-usc http//www.askmehelpdesk.com/attachments/spyware-viruses-etc/2944d 1173913897-how-remove-rvhost-exe-malware-anetgames-pkg_0023349.zip" http//www.askmehelpdesk.com/attachments/spyware-viruses-etc/2944d1173913897 -how-remove-rvhost-exe-malware-anetgames-pkg_0023349.zip.

THIEF the Deadly Shadows
QI have a P4, and I want to play THIEF the Deadly Shadows. My system fulfils the requirements, I have successfully installed the game but the problem is that whenever I click on to Play the screen goes black and only the sound of the starting game is heard. But after a few moment, a message appears “Thief; the Deadly Shadows has encountered a problem and needs to closed we are sorry for the inconvenience” and the option is given whether to send the report to Microsoft or not. What is the problem and how can it be solved?

AI think your problem is a graphics cards only. The game requires a graphics adapter with hardware pixel shader support to run. If you do not have a graphics accelerator, than this will cause problems. The only solution is to go and buy one. If however, you do have a graphics accelerator, then, note that this problem primarily occurs on NVIDIA graphics cards running driver versions 5x.xx and above although there are several reports of it occurring on ATI 9xxx cards using new drivers. If you are running Thief 2 you should remove the semicolon (;) from the line ;safe_texture_manager in the file user.cfg which you should open with notepad and try running it again.
USB does not run

QI am using Pentium 3 and Windows XP as the OS. The problem is that I have got a 4GB USB running good but now when I try to open the USB drive, it gives the message saying, “Please insert the disk into the hard drive”, I am very confuse please tell me why it is happening and what should be done?

AThis error is usually caused when you unplug the USB without 'Removing' it first from the Windows. To resolve this issue first clean up your device manager in Safe Mode. For this, please visit HYPERLINK "http//www.usbman.com/Guides/ Cleanup%20Device% 20Manager%20Safe% 20 Mode.htm" http//www.usbman.com/ Guides/ Cleanup%20Device%20 Manager% 20Safe%20Mode.htm.
Be sure to click View > Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager. If this does not work, go to the following link HYPERLINK "http//en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telecharger-127-hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool" http//en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telecharger-127-hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool.
This is HP USB disk storage format tool which is a small utility allowing formatting a key USB or READER MP4. It also allows making a key (Bootable). This software works with all keys and readers MP4 of the market. It has been well known to bring USBs back to life. Do not let the fact that it is written for the HP drive scare you. Let me know if this works for you too.

Installing Google earth
QI have Intel core 2duo with 1.8 GHz processor and 2GB system memory.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate edition. The problem is that when I try to install some programmes like Google Earth the following message pops up “This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.”

At first, I thought it was the case of corrupt files but then my cousin installed Google earth and his went perfectly (he uses WinXP), moreover, it started to show up on other installer as well. There are no viruses in my computer as I scanned it with ESET Smart Security and Panda Antivirus.

AThis happens when the windows installer gets corrupted (as has been the case on my system as well) from downloading the latest patches for Windows Ultimate. Some of the patches inadvertently end up damaging the Windows Installer Service that is included with Windows Vista. Here are the easy steps which you should try first
Go to a Windows Vista computer that has the Windows Installer service running correctly (say your friend's) and run regedit (Start-Run-Regedit). Go to the location HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServic esmsiserver Right click on this key and select “Export” and save the key to a Flash Drive or other.

Note Alternatively you can download the reg. key from here  HYPERLINK "" http// www.savefile.com/files/1315653.
Run sfc/scannow on the damaged Vista computer - you will not need the install disk as it goes to backup files on your HD. Do not reboot when complete.

Double click saved .reg file from working machine and import registry settings into damaged Vista computer.
Now reboot and try to install/uninstall
If this does not work than as a last resort before formatting and reinstalling Vista, you can try this to resolve this issue
Log on to your computer as an administrator. Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK. At the command prompt, typemsiexec.exe /unregister, and then press enter.
Type msiexec /regserver, and then press enter. Than
A. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
B. Click the following registry hive
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
C. On the Edit menu, click Permissions.
D. If SYSTEM is not listed in the Group or user names list, click Add, make sure that the local computer name appears in the From this location box, typesystem in the Enter the object names to select box, click Check Names, and then click OK. Click SYSTEM in the Group or user names list, and then select the Full Control check box under Allow in the Permissions for SYSTEM box.
Click Apply, click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.
F. Restart the computer.
WARNING This Fix has also been known to permanently corrupt the Windows Explorer. Please use this at your own discretion.
After this the only option left is to format and reinstall windows.
