ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan adjourned on Wednesday the hearing over the treason case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf until tomorrow after two of his lawyers gave contradictory statements about whether the former president wants to continue with the same set of lawyers or not, DawnNews reported.

At the start of Wednesday's hearing Musharraf's lawyer Ibrahim Satti told the three member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja that his client had asked him to discontinue his arguments.

The court took a brief recess and asked Satti to seek clearer instructions as to why Musharraf had made the decision.

But when the hearings resumed Ahmed Raza Kasuri, who also represents the former military ruler, told the court that he was not aware of any instructions concerning the ending of the defence argument and requested the court to allow him time to seek further instructions.

One of the petitioners' counsel Sheikh Ahsanuddin asked the court to clear the confusion by summoning Musharraf in the court.

But the court dismissed his plea and instead asked the lawyers of Musharraf to seek instructions.

The court adjourned the hearing over the case until Thursday.
