Basu Chatterjee's superhit 'Shaukeen' (1982) is all set to join the list of Bollywood remakes. The film, being directed by Rumi Jaffrey, will soon go on the floor. Jaffrey says he has slightly tweaked the original story, keeping in mind today's requirements. For example, the remake will be shot outside India and not in Goa, as seen in the original.
According to a report in TOI: Though the director is yet to confirm, buzz is that Rishi Kapoor will play Ashok Kumar's role. Paresh Rawal may be seen doing Utpal Dutt's role while Annu Kapoor could be in the role played by AK Hangal in the original. While some remakes are stuck over copyright issues, Chatterjee says he has nothing against Jaffrey 's project. "I have no issue; they have taken my permission," he says.
In fact, Jaffrey is hoping to get Chatterjee to direct the initial shot of the remake. He is yet to finalise actors for Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri's roles.
