PESHAWAR, March 1: Unidentified gunmen killed a trader and injured another at a shop in Kochi Bazaar in Peshawar city on Friday evening.

An official of local police said two people riding a motorcyclist stopped in front of the shop, opened fire at Akbar Ali Mir and Mukhtar Hussain and fled.

He said the people shifted the two Lady Reading Hospital, where Akbar Ali was pronounced dead and Mukhtar Hussain was under treatment.

When contacted, spokesman for Imamia Students Organisation Waseem Abbas declared the terrorist attack sectarian, saying the trader had no enmity towards anyone.

He condemned the killing and demanded of the government to take immediate action against killers.

Meanwhile, members of different Shia organisations under the supervision of Imamia Rabita Council (IRC) took out a procession from Imambargah Aadil Baig and burnt tyres at Qissa Khwani.

Also, they placed the coffin on the road and shouted slogans.

The protesters condemned the killing and said terrorists were killing innocent people in the name of religion without let or hindrance.

They warned that if the government didn’t arrest killers, then they would continue with their protest.

The protesters said traders would also join their agitation.
