PESHAWAR, Jan 22: Mohsin Saeed, chief executive officer of the National Industrial Park, has assured his organisation’s support to the idea of establishing an industrial park in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday.

Addressing members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Peshawar, he asked the local business community to form a ‘strong’ working group, involving leading industrialists from the province to follow through the establishment of the industrial park near Peshawar.

He asked the KPCCI members to take up with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and governor the issue of declaring the Risalpur Industrial Estate a full-fledged estate to make it a true export processing zone.

On this occasion, he said that all industrial estates in the province should have their independent power generation units to ensure round the clock electricity supply to the industrial units set up there. “In this connection, the working group can be very effective,” said Mr Saeed.

Earlier, according to the release, the chamber’s president, Dr Mohammad Yousuf, and the visiting official of NIP agreed to the need to collaborate their efforts to promote industrialisation and restore sick industrial units in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The KPCCI president said that industrialisation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had suffered a further blow because of the current wave of terrorism and extremism that aggravated the businessmen’s woes due to the presence of a large number of refugees from Afghanistan.
