LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Friday met with the Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara at Raiwind where both leaders reached consensus that Pakistan’s future lay in a democratic system of government, DawnNews reported.

Both leaders also agreed that no illegal and unconstitutional demands would be approved.

Speaking to media representatives, Sharif said that those who had been calling for saving the state had left Islamabad. He added that change could only be brought through votes. He further said that Pakistan is dearer to him than politics.

The PML-N chief added that his party opposed the local government system in Sindh and would neither accept a partition of Sindh.

Moreover, he said that a caretaker government in Sindh formed on the basis of corruption and bribery would not be accepted by his party.

During the meeting, both parties also agreed that the elections should be free and transparent as they would help to improve the deteriorating situation in the country.

Pir Pagara also said that President Asif Ali Zardari did not listen to Sindh’s voice.

The PML-N delegation also comprised of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Zulfiqar Khosa, Ghous Ali Shah and Pervez Rasheed.

The PML-F delegation included Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Pir Sadruddin, Mustafa Khar and Imtiaz Sheikh.
