KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday started the process of door-to-door voter verification in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

The process to verify electoral rolls was expected to continue until Feb 1.

The trained staff of the ECP was reportedly guarded by personnel of the security agencies, including the army. However, DawnNews reported earlier in the day that the staff carrying out the exercise was not accompanied by security personnel.

The election staff is scheduled to complete the work without any vacation.

The staff will ensure verification of voter lists even if they have to pay a number of visits to the voters’ residences, said Sindh election commissioner Mehboob Anwar at a press conference on Wednesday evening.
