PESHAWAR, Jan 4: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that the agenda of Allama Tahirul Qadri to delay general elections would never succeed and warned that some people were set to create chaos in the country.

He asked politicians to sit together and develop a common agenda for steering the country out of the existing grave crises. He slammed Pakistan Muslim League-Q and  Muttahida Qaumi Movement  for being with the government and still against it while supporting Mr Qadri’s long march.

Mr Sharif expressed these views here at Bilour House where earlier he condoled the death of Bashir Ahmed Bilour with his elder brother and Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, and sons Haroon Bilour and Usman Bilour. Information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and other ANP leaders were also present on the occasion.

Talking to media persons, the PML-N chief bitterly criticised the PML-Q and MQM for supporting Mr Qadri’s proposed long march on Islamabad and said that these parties being in government were protesting against their own government.

“It is ironic that the PML-Q and MQM being part of the government are trying to bring masses on roads and create disturbance for unknown reasons,” he said and added that Islam did not allow anyone to deprive people of their motorcycles and jewellery and spend the money on politics.

The PML-N president said that the MQM forgot that it had two ministers in the federal government when it joined hands with ‘khadim-ul-Islam’ for long march. He asked the people to note the political tactics of MQM and PML-Q as they enjoyed perks and privileges in the government and now instigating people to come on roads without any reason.

“Tahirul Qadri is using the name of Islam and extorting money from poor people for the sake of politics. Giving lectures for some years how he thought about the long march at a time when the time for general election is coming close,” he said and added that Mr Qadri’s agenda for delaying elections would never succeed.

Mr Sharif said that a few thousand people, who were trying to create disturbance and pave the way for delaying general election, would not be allowed to do so. He said that it was time for all political parties to join hands and take concrete steps for strengthening of democratic institutions.

He claimed that the PML-N was determined to work for development and progress of the country by boosting its economy where all the educated youth would get jobs.

“We want an end to the politics of prejudice and intolerance. We want to play our role for restoration of durable peace in the country,” the PML-N chief said.

Mr Sharif was accompanied by his party leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Pir Sabir Shah, Senator Pervez Rasheed, Khwaja Asif, Rahmat Salam Khattak, Nasir Musazai and others.

Talking to media persons at Officers Mess on Friday, the KP information Minister, meanwhile, said that that following instructions of his party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, he had conveyed a message to Mr Sharif about the ANP’s opinion for talks with Taliban.

“Nawaz Sharif agreed to hold negotiations with the ANP on the issue,” Mr Hussain said and added that the duty to continue the talks with the PML-N had been assigned to Senator Azam Khan Hoti.
