LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said elections were essential in order to ensure a strong and stable Pakistan, DawnNews reported.

He was speaking during a meeting in Raiwind with Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar, a political leader from Sindh.

Sharif added that timely elections were the sole method to eradicate the problems and crises confronting the nation at present.

The PML-N chief further said that it was vital to control the critical law and order situation in Karachi — Pakistan’s financial centre — and that the country’s economic progress depended on that.

Moreover, Sharif said the PML-N was studying the current situation in Sindh and should it come to power in the upcoming elections, elements violating the law would be dealt with sternly.
