Telecom pensioners

Published December 11, 2012

I WOULD like to draw the attention of all concerned, especially the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, towards a humanitarian issue of more than 40,000 Telecom pensioners across Pakistan.

These federal government pensioners, including 12,000 widows and orphans, are in miserable conditions for the last three years due to denial of increase in pension and the medical allowance by Pakistan Telecommunications Employees Trust (PTET) as announced in 2010-11, 2011-12 and even in 2012-13 by the government.

These increases had regularly been paid to us for 14 consecutive years by the PTET after its establishment in 1991.

PTET, working under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, has denied the grant of increases as announced by the government.

The prime minister, the president and the chief justice are requested to take notice of the defiance of the government.
