IT was very painful to see the death of young Owais Baig in a fire incident in the State Life building the other day.

Further, it was more alarming to know that there were no safety measures available with the fire-fighting department even to save the life of a single person hanging from the eighth floor window for half an hour before he finally fell to the second floor.

Afterwards, the government authorities visited the affected building and directed the administration to take all precautionary measures for the safety of the people working there.

All this after a precious life was lost. However, the government must now order inspection of all such buildings and places where such danger to human life is lurking.
