RAWALPINDI, Nov 27: On the recommendation of an inquiry committee formed to probe the rat-bite case, the Punjab health department on Tuesday suspended eight officials, including four doctors, of the HFH.

Besides, the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Fayyaz, has been transferred back to the health department. Dr Arshad Ali Sabir will be working as the acting MS, a handout issued by the health department said.

The suspended officials are: additional MS Dr Shahida Shah, DMS Dr Waseem Qadir, Dr Tariq Sohail and Dr Mohammad Akram, head nurses Jan Mohammad, Shazia Nasreen, nurse Penzy and midwife Joyce. Further action will be taken against the suspended doctors and other staff, the handout added.—A Reporter
