KARACHI: The government of Sindh has placed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi and Khairpur as part of its security measures ahead of the holy month of Muharram starting next week.

The ban will come into effect from midnight Friday and will stay in place until Muharram 11, according to a notification issued by the Sindh Home Ministry. A ban on pillion riding had already been imposed in Hyderabad earlier this week.

In addition to the pillion riding ban, the provincial government also issued an notification imposing Section 144 in Karachi, Hyderabad and Khairpur.
