ADEN: An al Qaeda suicide attacker set off an explosives-laden car inside a military base in southern Yemen at dawn on Friday, killing at least nine soldiers, a military official said.

The militant drove through several military checkpoints before entering the base of the Yemeni army's 115th brigade in Abyan province, where a drone strike killed at least seven al Qaeda members the day before, the official told AFP.
