PESHAWAR, Oct 11: Members of civil society organisations on Thursday set up a protest camp near Peshawar Press Club to condemn the attack on peace award winner Malala Yousufzai in Swat.

The participants had displayed banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the attack and demands for protecting the lives and properties of the people.

Prominent among the participants were Idress Kamal of Amn Tehrik, Dr Khadim Hussain of Bacha Khan Welfare Trust, Zar Ali Khan Afridi, Rakhshinda Naz, Maryam, Waqas Ali and others.

Meanwhile, the students of Bacha Khan Girls High School Nauthia took out a procession from the school to Fawara Chowk, condemning the attack on the schoolgirl and demanding arrest of the accused.

MANSEHRA: People on Thursday took to the streets to protest against attack on Malala Yousufzai and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

The participants of the rally, who were holding banners and placards, raised slogans against militancy.

Meanwhile, the owners of the private educational institutions held a meeting and decided to observe strike on Saturday against the attack.

Faraz Khan Swati, spokesman of the association, told reporters that private schools would remain closed on Saturday (October 13) in protest against the attack on Malala.

TIMERGARA: Activists of different non-governmental organisations on Thursday paid rich tribute to Malala Yousafzai and demanded of the government to arrest her attackers as soon as possible.

The demand was made during a protest demonstration in front of the press club and later at a news conference. The demonstration was arranged by People Rights Network.

Meanwhile, officers and staff of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department and students strongly condemned the attempt on the life of Malala Yousafzai.

Special meetings and assemblies were held in colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (male and female) to pay tribute to the award winning girl.

SWABI: MPA Dr Yasmeen Jasim, who is also district president of ANP women wing, said on Thursday Malala Yusufzai was a symbol of peace and the people who targeted her would never achieve their nefarious designs.

She told a meeting of the ANP women wing at his residence that every body knew about the contributions made by the young Malala for peace which is prerequisite for economic prosperity.

She said attack on Malala Yusufzai was an attempt to defame Pakistan at the international level. She told the party women to focus on rekindling the candles of peace.

MARDAN: Renowned writer and poet Syeda Haseena Gul has condemned attack on Malala Yousufzai and termed it a cowardly act.

She said in a press release that no religion and culture allowed attack on such an innocent girl. She said Malala wanted to spread the light of knowledge by promoting education in Swat valley.

Ms Gul said the aim of Malala was a just and noble one as it was in accordance with the junctions of the sacred religion of Islam. The attackers wanted to disturb peace in Swat, she added.

She said they were praying for early recovery of Malala as she was a symbol of hope and peace.
