KARACHI: A Mohammad Rasool-inspired Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) thumped Baloch FC 5-0 to strengthen their grip on top spot in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Army recorded their first win of the campaign when they defeated Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) 3-0 while Muslim FC checked Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) progress up the table when they beat them 1-0.

But the real action came at here at the KPT Stadium where Rasool single-handedly tore apart Baloch FC with four goals. He opened the scoring in the fourth minute before his fellow forward Mohammad Musa scored in the 21st.

In the second-half, there was no stopping Rasool as he scored in the 54th, 60th and the 76th with crisp finishes to seal KESC’s fifth victory in seven games so far.

Meanwhile, at the Korangi Baloch Ground, Saeed Ahmed’s last-gasp strike helped Muslim FC overcome PIA in a match that saw them reduced to ten men.

Hayatullah was given his marching orders in the 31st minute but the Muslim FC side, who had defended for almost the entirety of the match after that, scored off a counterattack in the first minute of injury-time.

At the Jinnah Football Stadium in Islamabad, Abdul Rehman, Ikram Ahmed and Ansar Abbas scored as Army won over ZTBL to move to four points from as many matches.

Friday’s fixture: Wapda v Wohaib FC (Railway Football Stadium, Lahore).
