THE government claims to be people-friendly but has done little for their welfare. Thousands of villagers are at risk of floods every year. Their lives are lost, their cattle dies and their crops are destroyed.

In urban areas, particularly like Karachi and Lahore, the same treatment is being meted out to the poor. Although they find jobs with much difficulty, poor working conditions await them. No high official bothers to check what bad conditions these people are working in.

The government hardly focuses on civic issues of the people. There is no social security for people either in villages or in cities.
