KARACHI: Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif have appealed that the strike on September 13 be postponed, DawnNews reported.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, Wali said that national interest and peace are the need of the hour and must be given utmost prefrence.

"The Baldia Town factory fire has shaken the nation badly. Keeping this national tragedy in mind, I appeal that the strike  be postponed," he said.

Sharif too said that the nation is mourning the loss of innocent lives in the tragic accident and stressed that the strike be delayed for another time.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-i-Islami, Tehrik-i-Insaaf and Sindh United Party have announced that they will not take part in the strike and would observe a day of mourning tomorrow.

However Awami Tehrik chief Ayaz Latif Palijo said that come what may, a strike will be observed tomorrow.
