LAHORE, Sept 11: Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Zaeem Hussain Qadri and Punjab Higher Education Secretary Dr Ejaz Munir on Tuesday inaugurated a website for online interaction with the 494 government colleges.

The Higher Education Department has developed the website with the cooperation of Tufail International.

Admission forms, online admission facility, prospectus, results, date sheets, attendant session, extracurricular activities, details of scholarships and facility of career counselling of all colleges in Punjab will be available at website: www.gc.edu.pk.

The department secretary has issued instructions to all colleges to upload their data on this website.

Mr Qadri said the launch of the website for the colleges across Punjab was an important step towards information sharing. He hoped that students and their parents would benefit a great deal from this tool.

Malaya varsity team: A five-member delegation from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, headed by its vice-chancellor, Ghauth Jasmon, visited the King Edward Medical University on Tuesday.

KEMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asad Aslam Khan, deans and chairpersons of all departments welcomed the delegation.

After presentation of different programmes being run by both the universities, a memorandum of understanding was signed for mutual cooperation in research and student exchange in postgraduate training programmes.

Both sides agreed to implement within the framework of the rules and regulations applicable in each of the institutions and subject to availability of funds and resources some programmes and activities, which may include student and/or academic and administrative staff exchanges, joint research activities, exchange of publications, reports and other academic materials and information, sharing of other activities and programmes in areas of mutual interest, where such sharing shall result in benefit to both parties.

The parties agreed to designate, on behalf of each institution, a coordinator whose responsibility will be to supervise the execution of this MoU and to draw up a programme or activities to be implemented under this MoU, setting out specific provisions concerning the exchange programmes, budget requirements and details of funding.
