“These will be really important games against Pakistan. Any momentum that we can get that we can take into Sri Lanka will be excellent,” Australia vice-captain Shane Watson said while setting his sights firmly on the upcoming World Twenty20.

Watson, rested for the Pakistan-Australia ODI series, said his side will use the three T20s against the same opposition as a launching pad for their campaign in Sri Lanka and believes the squad picked for the ICC event is a perfect blend of talented youngsters and proven veterans.

“We haven't really had a long time together as a Twenty20 team so it will be good playing Pakistan,” Watson said.

“We were unlucky on missing out on the final the last time.

“This team has got good balance of youth and experience and on our day we can beat the best teams in the world.”

The George Bailey-led Australian side will take on Pakistan in the first T20 on September 5 while the second and third games will be played on the September 7, 10 respectively.

Bailey echoed Watson’s sentiments.

“These will be really important games against Pakistan. Any momentum that we can get that we can take into Sri Lanka will be excellent.”
