NOWSHERA, Aug 29: Unidentified militants blew up two under-construction police posts on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in the small hours on Wednesday.

Officials said that police posts near Rashakai Interchange and Choli, Nissata, were blown up when explosive devices, planted by unidentified militants, went off simultaneously at about 2:45am.

According to Bomb Disposal Squad, five kilograms of explosives were used in the blasts. Officials said that both bombs exploded simultaneously and created panic among the area people. Ball bearings and remotes were recovered from the sites of blasts.

Police blocked one side of motorway to traffic after the incident. Elite Force was deployed in the area to launch a search operation.

Police said that Murad Khan, a watchman at Rashakai police post, was arrested.

In Bajaur Agency, Levies force foiled a sabotage bid and defused a powerful explosive device planted outside the house of a journalist in Sadiqabad Town of Khar tehsil on Wednesday.The residents of the area said that terrorists had planted an improvised explosive device at the main gate of the house of Anwarullah Khan, senior vice president of Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ).

The explosive device was spotted by the family members of the journalist. A team of Bajaur Levies rushed to the site after receiving information and defused the explosive device.

Mohib Khan, an official of Bomb Disposal Squad, said that the device could have caused huge loss if it was not defused.  “The administration is investigating the incident and persons responsible for the plan would be arrested soon,” an official said.

Meanwhile, power supply to Mohmand Agency was suspended when unidentified terrorists blew up 132 KV electricity supply line tower in Shabqadar on Wednesday.

The terrorists planted explosive device at an electricity tower at Samnat area of 25-dispuated villages in Shabqadar that went off with a big bang, plunging the entire Mohmand tribal region into darkness.

Meanwhile, bullet-riddled body of a man was found in Attokhel area of tehsil Haleemzai. The body was handed over to local peace committee.

In Charsadda, police thwarted a sabotage attempt by defusing a remote controlled bomb in Othmanzai Bazaar on Wednesday evening.

Police said that they got information that a suspicious sack was lying in front of the local branch of a bank in the bazaar. Police cordoned off the area closed Tangi-Charsadda Road to traffic.

Later, a team of Bomb Disposal Squad was called from Peshawar that defused the 20 kilograms remote controlled bomb.
