ISLAMABAD, Aug 28: The Higher Education Commission HEC has approved standardized fee refund policy at higher education institutions due to which now students who apply for the admission in more than one university can get their fees refunded.

This national level policy was devised in compliance with the direction of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The IHC had directed the HEC to restructure fee-refund policy at national level. In this regard, a committee, comprising vice chancellors both from public and private higher education institutions, was constituted.

The committee was headed by Engr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani Vice-Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar.

Over the recommendations of the Committee, the commission approved that in case a student intends to cancel his/her admission in any university of the country, full tuition fee shall be refunded  till 7th day of commencement of classes in semester system and till 15th day in the annual system. In addition, half of the fee shall be refundable from 8th to 15th day of commencement of classes in semester system and from 15th to 30th day of commencement of classes in annual system.

The commission also approved that no fee shall be refunded from 16th day of commencement of classes in semester system and from 31st day of the start of classes in annual system.

The policy will be applicable to all the public and private higher education institutors of the country.—A Reporter
