LAHORE, Aug 22: Senior PML-N leader and MNA Khwaja Saad Rafiq says the country is progressing toward peaceful general elections.

He was speaking at a press conference at his office here on Wednesday where Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf leader Rana Tanvir announced his return to the PML-N.

Tanvir abandoned the PML-N around six months ago. A PTI spokesman said Tanvir returned to the party seeing no chance of getting a PTI ticket for the general election on merit.

Welcoming Tanvir back in the party, Rafiq said the masses would get rid of a “failed and inept” government through the electoral exercise. He said his party would not become part of any plans of world powers for Pakistan.

He said both the judiciary and the media were independent because of PML-N’s struggle and sacrifices.
