KARACHI: India defeated Pakistan by one wicket to qualify for the semi-final of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Townsville on Monday.

Pakistan batted first and scored 136 in 45.1 overs before being  dismissed with Babar Azam scoring 50 and Sandeep taking 3-24 and Ravikant 3-43. It would have been an easy chase but India started off badly and were 8 for 3. Aparajith (51) and Vijay Zol (36) took India to 120-5 but they collapsed after that as Pakistan took a flurry of wickets.

India struggled to get runs towards the end with Harmeet Singh and Sharma batting. Harmeet scored the winning runs as India made 137-9 in 48 over to seal the victory.

In the other quarter final, New Zealand won by three wickets against West Indies and will be facing India in the semi-final on Thursday. The other semi-final will be between South Africa and hosts Australia.
