LAHORE, August 3: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director-General Ahad Khan Cheema awarded on Friday major and minor penalties to 12 LDA senior and junior officials for their alleged involvement in the fake transfer of three plots, bearing Nos 181, 196 and 223 at F1 Block of the Johar Town.

The director-general issued orders for the compulsory retirement of former director (revenue) Haroon Rashid, assistant director (identification) Muhammad Yasin, assistant director (computer) Mian Ashfaq and junior clerk Naseem Abbas. The director-general dismissed data entry operator Bilal Rahat and junior clerk Akhtar Mumtaz and stopped the one-year increment of assistant director (computer) Sanaullah Butt.

He also stopped three years’ increments of computer officers Mehmood Miraj and Yasir Iftikhar. Two-year increments of senior clerk Arif Younis and one-year increment of assistant director (computer) Muhammad Usman had also been stopped.

Mr Cheema ordered forfeiting of the past three years service of assistant director (accounts) Mian Azam Hussain.

He exonerated deputy director Afzal Bhatt and Muhammad Amjad, a junior clerk of the Revenue Directorate, as no charge could be established against them.

SECTION 144: District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal imposed on Friday Section 144 under which the entry of passenger buses and vans to Raiwind and picking of passengers from outside the newly-built General Bus Stand was banned. Under the order, all passenger vehicles will only pick passengers from the new bus stand of Raiwind.

ACTION: Price control magistrates have punished at least 1,370 shopkeepers for overcharging and hoardings since the start of Ramazan.

According to a press release, around 100 magistrates imposed a fine of Rs1.3 million on vendors across the provincial metropolis.
