HYDERABAD, Aug 3: Activists and supporters of Jamaat Islami and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam held demonstrations across Sindh on Friday in protest against killings of Muslims in Myanmar.

In Hyderabad, JI workers protested outside Aurangzeb Masjid in Gari Khata.

They shouted slogans against Myanmar government for its failure to control the situation.

General Secretary of JI Sindh, Rashid Naseem and JI district Amir Shaikh Shoukat Ali said that local and international media had not played its role by highlighting the massacre.

They said that hundreds of Muslims, including women, children and elderly persons had been killed since June while a number of women were sexually assaulted and over 300,000 Muslims were forced to migrate to Bangladesh.

They said that many colonies of Muslims and mosques were attacked during violence between Muslims and Buddhists.

They appealed to United Nations, Muslim countries and media to play their role in stopping carnage of Muslims and arson attacks on their properties.

Meanwhile, workers of JUI-F held a protest demonstration outside the local press club. They chanted slogans against government of Myanmar and urged UN and other world institutions to play their role in ending cruel acts being committed by Buddhists of Myanmar.

In Sukkur and adjoining towns, protest day was observed by JUI-F workers.

Workers of JUI-F staged a demonstration at Clock Tower roundabout in Sukkur. The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans of ‘stop killings of Muslims in Myanmar and Assam. They raised slogans against UNO and western countries.

JUI-F leaders Maulana Ubedullah Bhutto and Maulana Abdul Haq Mahar appealed the Muslim countries to help the Muslims and foil the conspiracies against them.

Similar demonstrations were held in Mirpurkhas and Shikarpur.
