RAWALPINDI: The counsel for a detained official of Islamabad police on Monday told the local court that doctors of Adiala jail, district headquarters hospital and the jail administration were behind the escape of Roohullah, a key suspect in the murder of former attorney general and retired judge of Peshawar High Court (PHC) Sardar Khan.

Advocate Ashfaq Ahmed Malik, counsel for constable Tahir Saeed during the proceeding told the judicial magistrate Ahsan Raza that the detained murder suspect was illegally shifted from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).

He said the jail authorities without completing the due process transferred the suspect to hospital and the doctors without any lawful authority admitted him.

According to him, the jail authorities, doctors and officials of passport office all were responsible for Roohullah’s escape.

He claimed that the court could not remand the detained police officials to the Ganjmandi police as they were booked under section 109, 223 and 224 of the Pakistan Panel Code (PPC) and 155 of Police Order 2002 for negligence and abetment adding that these were the bailable offences.

Ganjmandi police produced three police officials, ASI Ali Syed, constables Yaqoob and constable Tahir, before the judicial magistrate and requested for their seven days physical remand. The judge, however, extended the physical remand for another day.

According to the FIR, the suspect in connivance with the doctors and the staff of Adiala jail managed to get admission in the hospital and with the help of doctors, paramedical staff and some unknown persons escaped.— A Reporter
