ISLAMABAD, July 29: Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA) condemned the handing over of buildings of educational institutions to different organisations and influential personalities, blaming federal directorate of education (FDE) for keeping mum about the issue.

The FGCTA spokesperson, Prof Tahir Mehmood in a statement issued here on Sunday said some departments and influential personalities had been attempting to capture the buildings in the name of national interest.

He further said that one of the oldest and biggest institutions of the federal capital, IMCB H-9 was among the most recent and the worst sufferers of this so called national interest.

“A few months ago, shops within the college campus were unlawfully captured by a group of property dealers/businessmen who were kin of a former director general.

“Hardly two weeks ago, a big and spacious building of H-9 College hostel which had been occupied by Comsats since 2001, was captured by Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM),” he said.

He ironically remarked: “Representative body of teachers purposes in the best national interest that all FDE buildings should be given to the PBM to accommodate orphans because the FDE is not more than a white elephant for the educational institutions working under it.”
