THE article ‘Voices from the past’ (Images, June 17) in which Agha Nasir shared his memories about the golden days of radio and of the times that followed was touching and nostalgic, giving us a glimpse of the history of radio programmes in Pakistan. I would really like to listen to some of those great radio dramas.

For the past few years, I have been listening to classic American radio shows from the 1930s to 1950s which had been preserved and are now made available on the internet. Similiarly, after reading this article, I hope that the Pakistani radio shows have been preserved. If they have, then they should be made available on the internet.

If such a process requires funds, then a few shows should be made available freely and others should be made available as CDs and DVDs at a cost that might help in preservation and restoration of these shows.

However, it would be unfortunate if Radio Pakistan has not preserved them, as we would have lost a great treasure of voices forever. I hope that at least the scripts have been preserved.
