Indian actor and superstar of the ’70s Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18 in Mumbai. He was 69. He is survived by his ex-wife, actress Dimple Kapadia, and two daughters Twinkle and Rinkie (both have also acted in films). The deceased actor was suffering from a kidney ailment and had been hospitalised on a few occasions in 2012.

Rajesh Khanna was born in 1942 in Amritsar, Punjab. He joined the Indian film industry in the latter half of the 1960s and progressed to become one of the most sough-after actors of his time. Some believe he was the first superstar of Bollywood. Known for his romantic roles, he acted in films like Mere Jeevan Saathi, Aradhna, Anand and Haathi Mere Saathi.
