KALAYA, July 20: One security official died in a landmine blast in upper Orakzai, while a missile attack and a roadside blast claimed lives of two people in Kurram tribal region on Friday.

The same day, two government schools were blown up in Mohmand Agency.

Sources said that the security personnel were on a routine patrol in Ghaljo area when one of them stepped on a landmine, which exploded and killed him on the spot. The soldier was identified as hawaldar Zar Saeed Afridi.

The security forces later cordoned off the area and started search operation in Mulla Pati and Ghundai Kallay. They also seized arms and explosive from these localities.

According to a report from Parachinar, two people were killed and six others suffered wounds in missile attack and roadside blast in Upper Kurram tribal region on Friday.

Local people said that two woodcutter of Turi Bangash tribe were surrounded by armed miscreants in a forest. The villagers and volunteers rushed to the spot and rescued the woodcutters.

In the meanwhile, unknown miscreants from Nari area fired missiles on densely populated Shalozan area. One missile fell on a house, resulting in death of a 16-year-old Sadiqa Bibi, while her brother Najaf Ali and mother received injuries. The second missile hit another house injuring a paramedic Bashir Hussain.

The crossfire between militants and Turi Bangash tribesmen continued till late in the night.

Meanwhile, in another incident in Kurram Agency a vehicle hit a landmine planted by unknown miscreants. As a result, driver Safar Ali Turi was killed while two other people were injured.

In Ghalani, suspected militants blew up two more government schools in Safi tehsil of Mohmand tribal region early on Friday.

Sources said that militants planted improvised explosive device (IED) at the building of government primary school for boys No 2, Sandukhel, in the night, which exploded early on Friday. As a result, the school was completely destroyed.

In the second incident, the government primary school for boys, Mansur Kallay, in Safi tehsil was blown up early on Friday. The number of schools destroyed in such attacks in Mohmand Agency now stood at 97. However, only six schools have been repaired so far.
