QUETTA, June 9: Four policemen were killed when gunmen opened fire on their van in Killi Sardarabad area of the city on Saturday.

A senior police official said the terrorists, too, arrived at the place on a van. They opened fire on the police patrol of Satellite Town station on Sariab road.

All the policemen died on the spot.

Qazi Wahid, DIG Operations, termed the incident an act of target killing.

The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital. It was the fourth attack on police in Sariab area over the past two weeks.

“We have no idea who is involved in the attack,” police sources said.

There was no claim of responsibility for the incident, which happened two days after 16 people were killed in a bomb explosion near the gates of a madressah in the city.

The dead policemen were identified as Sarfaraz, Abdul Karim, Mohammad Hafiz and Zar Mohammad.
