LAHORE: The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of USA Cricket Association (USACA), Nabeel Ahmed, said that USACA will seek cooperation from different cricket boards including Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to improve the standard of cricket in America.

“We have been assigned a challenging task to raise the standards of USA cricket and definitely we will be taking all necessary measures to give new dimensions to our cricket,” he told APP from Detroit on Thursday.

The newly elected CEO firmly believes that noted cricket boards of the world can help cricket in the USA where the passion for cricket is growing.

“Now the things have changed in USACA with some changes in the system and we need to accelerate our efforts to do what could not be achieved in the past and it is only possible when other cricket boards help us in strengthening USA cricket by playing cricket in our country and also extend technical assistance,” said Ahmed, the founder of Michigan based Great Lakes Cricket Conference and a diehard promoter of cricket for the last thirty years.

He also spoke very highly about PCB and cricket activities in Pakistan and said USACA will welcome cooperation from PCB as far as supplementing of efforts of promoting cricket is concerned in USA.

“We have an ICC certified stadium in Florida which can host day and night matches and last year we hosted New Zealand and Sri Lanka T-20 matches and this summer in June, New Zealand and West Indies will be playing two T-20 matches at the same venue and we are thankful to both the Boards for playing in USA,” he said.

“USCA is capable of hosting Pakistan in USA and we can explore avenues in staging Pakistan home series one-day or T-20 matches in USA as international cricket is at a dead lock at the moment in Pakistan,” he said.

“Change in US cricket has taken place; we are going to make it the best cricket market and cricket playing country. We will turn USACA in a model cricket body and for that we need to change gears and prosper,” he added.

Ahmed was of the view that they can also seek the cooperation of noted cricket boards on exchange of coaches to impart finer points of coaching to young American cricketers.

“Similarly our coaches can attend different training programmes organized by different cricket boards and we can also invite them to visit USA to groom our technical officials,” he said.

Ahmed said they want to expand cricket activities in the USA and their aim is to help USACA to become a full ICC member in the future which is only possible when things are moving in the right direction and cricket activity is being generated at all levels in the USA.
