LAHORE: Expressing his concerns about the law and order situation in Karachi, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif on Saturday stressed upon the importance of implementing the Supreme Court’s recommendations regarding target killings in the city.

In a statement issued from Lahore, the PML-N chief said that the Sindh government had failed to ensure peace and safety for the Karachi's citizens.

The loss of lives of the innocent citizens [of Karachi] should stop immediately, said Nawaz.

The PML-N president also urged the government to take stern action against elements involved in disturbing peace in the city.

Talking to Sunni Tehrik Pakistan chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri who called him earlier on Saturday, Nawaz said elements responsible for the situation law and order situation in Karachi deserved no leniency and should be dealt with an iron fist.

He said practical steps were imminent to establish peace in Karachi, which was very much linked to the country’s prosperity.
