PESHAWAR: Families continued to evacuate areas of Bara tehsil on Saturday as the army geared up for an operation against militants in the Khyber tribal region, DawnNews reported.

Armed forces were shifting tanks and artillery to clear the troubled areas of the agency of militants.

The local administration had forewarned the residents of Tank, Malakdin Khel, Nala and other areas to leave their abodes in view of the imminent operation.

Militants had killed more than 10 security personnel in the past week after which a decision was made to launch the operation.
