BUNER, Dec 28: The Chinglai police on the directives of Peshawar High Court arrested three members of a jirga who were involved in settling a woman's kidnapping issue on Swara, official sources said on Tuesday.

The jirga of Khadukhel area had settled the dispute between two families by giving two sisters Basmeena and Asma to two men of the kidnapped woman's family.

Hearing the petition filed by the girls, a division bench of PHC comprising Justice Dost Mohammad and Justice Sajjad Hussain Shah had issued contempt of court notice to DPO, DCO Buner and SHO Chinglai for avoiding arrest of the jirga members.

Following the order, the Chinglai police raided the houses of the jirga members and arrested Amir Afzal, Mohammad Shah and Qaimant Shah, while two others Maulana Ibrarullah and Said Bahadur managed to escape.

The police said that a case had been registered against the jirga members under relevant sections of the law. ROAD INAUGURATED:

OFFICE-BEARERS: Muhibul Haq and Syed Bacha were named as chairman and general secretary of the Buner press club for the year 2011 on Tuesday.

A meeting of the press club unanimously named the new office-bearers. Muhibul Haq was made its chairman while Syed Bacha as general secretary, Shaukat Ali deputy general secretary, Juma Said treasurer and Saeed Rashed secretary information. Abid and Zahir Shah were nominated as members of the executive council.
