KARACHI, Feb 29: Vice Admiral (retired) HMS Choudri, the first Pakistan Commander-in-Chief of Pakistan Navy, who died on Friday evening was laid to rest with full military honour at the Army graveyard here on Sunday evening.

The Namaz-i-Janaza was held at PNS Jauhar parade ground which was attended by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karimullah; former chiefs of Pakistan Navy Vice Admiral (retired) Muzzafar Hassan, Admiral (retired) Mohammad Sharif, Admiral (retired) Karamat Rehman Niazi, Admiral (retired) Tariq Kamal Khan, Admiral (retired) Iftikhar Ahmed Sirohi, Admiral (retired) Yasturul Haq Malik and Admiral (retired) Saeed Ahmed Khan; besides a large number of senior serving and retired Armed Forces officers and elite of the city.

Floral wreaths were laid on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Commander Logistics, Commander Pakistan Fleet, Commander Karachi, Commander 5 Corps, Officer Commanding Southern Air Command, President Navy League and a number of prominent citizens, including relatives and friends.

Quran Khawani and Dua-i-Maghfirat for the departed soul will be held on Wednesday (March 3) between Asr and Maghrib at his residence, A-16, KDA-1, Karachi.

CONDOLENCE: Meanwhile, Naval Chief Admiral Shahid Karimullah has expressed his deep regret over the demise of Haji Siddiq Choudri. Admiral Karimullah said the late HMS Choudri in capacity of the Naval Chief of Pakistan played an important.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal solace to the departed soul and courage to his family to bear the loss. -APP
