Abbas Raza promoted as rear admiral

ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: The government has promoted Commodore Abbas Raza to the rank of rear admiral. Rear Admiral Abbas Raza joined Pakistan Navy in June 1973. He got commission in the operations branch in 1975 and won the coveted sword of honour.

He did his staff course from Royal Navy Staff College, Greenwich, UK, and also graduated from the National Defence College. He has held various command and staff appointments including the command of two guided missile destroyer - PNS Badr, Tippu Sultan - and a boat squadron. He has also held appointment of air and naval attache in Paris. At the naval headquarters, he was assigned the duties of principal secretary to chief of the naval staff.—APP
