LAHORE, Nov 16: An O-Level student allegedly shot dead his paternal grandmother and two servants and injured his aunt and a maid-servant over a domestic issue in Gulberg (Ghalib Market police precinct) on Thursday morning.

The police suspected that the motive behind the triple murder might be strained relations between Mrs Mujeeb, the mother of killer Asad, and her in-laws.

“This extreme hatred might have pushed Asad, the grandson of a retired brigadier, to kill his grandmother Zarina Arif and others.

“According to a plan, Asad left his Cavalry Ground house on the pretext of going to school but reached 3-A, G Block, Gulberg II residence of his grandfather, Brig Muhammad Arif Khan (retired), around 10am,” the police sources said.

Around 10:30am, the boy opened fire on Zarina, 65, and two servants Khair Din, 60, and Fauzia, 30. In the meantime, Asad’s aunt Farida Mansoor and another maidservant Nazia, who were working in a store on upper portion of the house, came out of the store after hearing the fire shots and looked down.

Farida asked Asad what he was doing as a result of which the latter fired at them but both the women confined themselves to the store and started pushing trunks and bags to close the door which had no lock.

Asad came to the upper storey and started firing and Farida and Nazia suffered injuries when the bullets struck them after piercing through the door. Zarina, Khair Din and Fauzia died on the spot while Farida and Nazia suffered injuries.

Nazia was taken to the Services Hospital while Farida was taken to the Combined Military Hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger after operation.

The police investigators further informed that Asad did not go to school on Thursday and was seen with his friends before reaching his grandfather’s house.

The sources said Asad’s mother, who was not enjoying good relations with her in-laws, might have spoken ill of the parental family which compelled his son to go for the extreme step.”

It is learnt that Asad is a nephew of Data Ganj Bakhsh Town nazim Tariq Sana Bajwa and is being protected by him.

“Fauzia, a mother of four, was living at Canal Park and used to come for work daily,” his brother told this reporter on the spot.

Mr Arif has two sons — Dr Mansoor Ahmad Khan and Engrr Mujeeb Arif Khan. Mansoor along with his wife and three daughters has been living with his father.

Dr Mansoor is director of the SMS Security while Mujeeb is doing a job in a private company. Asad is the elder son of Mujeeb Khan and is living at the Cavalry Ground residence.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against the teenaged culprit on the complaint of Farida’s brother Naveed Ahmad Khan with no arrest so far. The DIG (operations) immediately reached the place along with a team as did the Rescue 1122 officials.

The aggrieved family refused to talk to this reporter and all its members were busy in an internal meeting at Gulberg house to settle the issue.
