SAHIWAL: Ghala Mandi police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the west side of the Lower Bari Doab Canal on Friday and registered a murder case against unidentified suspects.

The body was shifted to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital for an autopsy. SHO Amir Gujar said the deceased, believed to be in her 40s, has not yet been identified.

After completing legal formalities, police handed over the body to the Edhi Foundation for burial.

ENCOUNTER: Fateh Sher police arrested an injured dacoit while two of his accomplices escaped during an encounter near village 81/5-R on Friday.

According to reports, three dacoits had snatched a motorcycle, cash, and a mobile phone from Muhammad Bilal in Model City.

Upon receiving the complaint, police rushed to the scene, leading to an exchange of fire.

One dacoit, later identified as Habib Machi, was found critically injured near Bhutto Nagar and was arrested. He informed police that his accomplices, Zohaib and Shahbaz Fatiyan, managed to escape.

Police have registered cases under PPC sections 186, 392, 353, 324, 34, and section 13(2) of the Arms and Ammunition Act on the complaint of SI Shafiq Ahmed. Police records show that the three suspects are absconders in multiple criminal cases.
