PESHAWAR: Death toll due to Covid-19 reached 1,120 as six more persons passed away from the infection in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.

The province also recorded 216 new patients raising tally of confirmed cases to 31,217, according to a report compiled by health department. It said 22,260 persons had so far recovered from the pandemic with the addition of 653 more patients, who were declared recovered.

Two persons died each in Peshawar and Abbottabad where number of people fallen to the virus reached 537 and 67 respectively. Both the cities recorded 98 and seven new cases, bringing number of confirmed patients to 1,1374 and 1,280 respectively.

Dir Lower and Charsadda recorded one death apiece. Both the districts have so far seen the death of 39 and 15 persons, respectively. Both the districts recorded three and 40 more patients respectively, making total score cared of positive patients there r1,552 and 820.

Kohat where 32 persons have fallen victims to the virus reported 17 more patients, taking its total count of confirmed cases to 652.

Swat detected 13 fresh patients where total tally of confirmed cases reached 2,714. The district, which has so far witnessed 96 fatalities from the virus, is second after Peshawar in terms of deaths and confirmed cases.

Te number of positive patients in Malakand district reached 1,442 with confirmation of virus in 10 more people.

The district has recorded 39 deaths from the infection so far.

Peshawar division is leading both in deaths and cases as it has recorded 608 fatalities and 13,902 cases, followed by Malakand with 236 deaths and 8,196 cases, Hazara with 107 deaths and 2,610 cases, Mardan with 81 deaths and 1,625 cases, Kohat with 63 deaths and 1,946 cases, Dera Ismail Khan with 16 deaths and 536 cases and Bannu with eight deaths and 250 cases.
