GUJRAT: A massive disinfection drive was launched in Gujrat on Saturday as a number of major roads of the city were disinfected by the fire engines of the Rescue 1122.

The disinfection drive would continue in various parts of the district for a week.

The staff of the Gujrat Municipal Corporation was also accompanying the disinfection teams. The 14km long old GT Road, Circular Road, Court Road, Bhimbher Road and other such areas of the city were disinfected on the first day of drive.

A senior officer of the municipal corporation said the disinfectant, which contained 1% hydrogen peroxide was being used in the spray mixed with water. He said at least 15,000 litre disinfectant liquid had been donated by a real estate developer along with its tankers and other staff to assist the Rescue 1122.
