While you have ample time these days, it is better to keep yourself occupied in creative things. I will try to come up with lots of crafts that will not only be useful to you, but some of which will come under the decor of your room just like today’s — chenille birds on canvas.

This is quite an easy and simple craft made from chenille sticks, which will be a pretty addition to your room and will cheer you up as you while away this unplanned vacation.

Things you need:

  1. Chenille sticks: four

  2. A-4 size coloured paper (I used pink)

  3. Green-coloured piece of paper to make the grass

  4. Glue stick

  5. Hot glue

  6. Four small googly eyes

  7. Artificial feathers — this is optional (you can make feathers from papers)

  8. One A-4 sized piece of hardboard (you can cut it from any empty carton)

Directions:

  1. Make a small coil at one end of the chenille stick (for the head), picture 2.

  2. Make another coil, a bit bigger for the body, keep in mind this body coil is made in the opposite direction as shown in picture 3.

  3. Paste googly eye on the small coil and paste feathers at the bottom of the bigger coil, pictures, 4 and 5.

  4. Cut the beak from the yellow piece of paper, it should be tiny because our birds are very small, picture 6.

  5. Make four such birds, of different colours, picture 7.

  6. Paste coloured paper on the A-4-sized hardboard, picture 8.

  7. Make a border to make it look like a canvas, I used black paper for the border, you can use any colour of your choice, picture 9.

  8. Paste birds with hot glue on the canvas in different positions, picture 10.

  9. Your chenille bird canvas is ready. You can add details to the whole thing by pasting grass and flowers made of paper and anything else you like, picture 11.

Make a loop with either a ribbon or any string at the back of the canvas, stick it with a good glue and hang it.
