ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the missile attacks directed at Saudi Arabia’s cities of Riyadh and Jizan and expressed its full solidarity with the brotherly people of the kingdom.

Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the kingdom against any threat to its security and territorial integrity, the Foreign Office spokesperson said.

“It is particularly reprehensible that armed attacks were directed at civilian population that is already fighting a pandemic. We laud the Saudi defence forces for their timely interception, preventing loss of precious lives and damage to property,” an FO press release quoted the spokesperson as saying.

Saudi air defences late on Saturday intercepted Yemeni rebel missiles over the capital Riyadh and Jizan, a city on the Yemen border. Two civilians were wounded in the capital Riyadh where a curfew was in place amid efforts to combat coronavirus, state media said on Sunday.
