TAXILA: A student of local technical college attempted to hang himself in his hostel room in Attock on Saturday.

His fellow students, however, rescued him after breaking the door of his room. Later, Rescue 1122 shifted him to District Headquarters Hospital.

Police and rescue sources said the student was in distress due to some domestic issues.

Attock police have registered a case and started further investigation.

Meanwhile, Wah Saddar police foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of drugs from KP to Punjab and arrested a couple.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party led by Wah Saddar police SHO Mohammad Rafeeq intercepted a car near Brahma Bhattar interchange and during a search recovered 15kg hashish from hidden parts of the vehicle.
