THE WEEK THAT WAS

Ishq Zah-i-Naseeb | Hum TV, Fridays 8.00pm

Things get beyond creepy when Gohar (Sonya Hussain) is greeted on her wedding night by her groom Samir (Zahid Ahmed) who is fully plastered in make-up, perfect red lipstick and duppata et al! The cat’s out of the bag and Gohar now knows she has married a basket case with loads of money.

Snail-paced scenes abound where characters think more than they speak, interspersed with flashbacks of Samir’s childhood nanny Shakira (Yumna Zaidi) and her weird demeanour. Between Samir’s split-personality disorder and a straightforward story about two couples, played by talented actors, writer Hashim Nadeem has lost the plot and is using intense dramatics to attract viewers, but it is so not happening.

What To Watch Out For

Meray Paas Tum Ho | ARY, Saturdays 8.00pm

Character transformations and an actual dishum-dishum scene sparks off yet another powerful episode of this most-talked about serial of the season. Tables turn as a suave Danish (Humayun Saeed) visits Shehwar’s (Adnan Siddiqui) office, bypasses his receptionist, locks up the board room from inside where Shehwar is in a meeting, and knocks the daylights out of Shehwar by slapping him right in the face.

Powerful lines and more manhandling follows, and Danish leaves a baffled Shehwar, who is somewhat convinced that Danish the wimp has disappeared into the past and he now has a different person to deal with.

Can’t wait for the next episode to see how Shehwar reacts and the repercussions on his relationship with Mehwish (Ayeza Khan).
