RAWALPINDI: Three soldiers of Pakistan Army were martyred and one was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in North Waziristan district.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident happened when the soldiers were on a rou­tine patrol.

The explosion site was cordoned off and a search operation was in progress, the ISPR added.

The martyred were identified as Sepoys Sajid, Riyasat and Babar.

Last month, four army soldiers were martyred and one other was injured in two separate incidents of firing by militants near the Afghan border.

The Foreign Office had summoned the Afghan charge d’affaires to lodge a protest against the firing incident.
