ISLAMABAD: At least three persons were injured in a gun battle between two groups over old enmity which has already claimed four lives in the last 15 years, sources told Dawn.

The police said a group from village Bangial intercepted a rival, a native of Chirah village located in the area of Shahzad Town police station, and opened fire on him.

In response, the villagers of Chirah also retaliated and fired at them.

Both the rival groups exchanged fire using sophisticated weapons. As a result, three persons suffered injuries, the police said, adding after getting the information the police reached the spot forcing the rivals to escape from the spot.

However, the police succeeded in arresting a man, besides seizing a vehicle and three SMGs, they said.

The injured were taken to hospital where they were provided medical assistance and kept there under the doctors’ observation.

A senior police officer told Dawn that the rivals had a dispute over a land measuring 200kanals located in the village Chirah.
